The best of Lanzarote for families

One of the most diverse and colourful of the Canary Islands, Lanzarote has been able to appeal to those looking for a relaxing family holiday for many years and its popularity doesn’t look like decreasing any time soon.

Here are some interesting family-orientated things to do while on a holiday in Lanzarote:

Rancho Texas Park

This is a Wild West-themed amusement park that includes a Lilliput farm, in a reference to Gulliver’s Travels. It also has an ‘Indian village’ and a range of other activities, including swimming with sea lions.

Other attractions at the park include flamenco night and a ‘lasso show’ with a cowboy and a cowgirl.

Lanzarote Submarine Safari

If the kids still want more after the excitement of the American theme park, there’s the unusual and exciting prospect of going safari on a submarine! Leaving from Puerto Calero, the sub is spacious and designed with kids in mind.

It’s probably the most fun and best way to see some underwater wildlife action. Parties are submerged for a full hour too, so your kids won’t complain that it was too short, and beg you to take them on it again.

Guinate Tropical Park

If your kids are wildlife buffs take them along to Guinate Tropical Park. It hosts over 1,300 different species of birds and animals and is spread out over 25,000 square metres.

It features the largest aviary in Europe and is beautifully designed with stunning walks, streams and waterfalls.

Sitting at the foot of an extinct volcano, it is 400 metres above sea level, allowing some truly beautiful views for sightseers.

Timanfaya National Park

This park is a UNESCO World Biosphere Reserve, and once you visit, you’ll understand why. It’s simply breathtaking, staring out at the vast vista of volcanic landscape and soil.

If the kids don’t at first perk up at the prospect of walking around a massive park, you’ll easily galvanise them with the promise of being able to do the entire thing on camelback!

You’ll also be able to spark off your very own geyser, by pouring water into a 3 km-deep magma chamber. It’s incredible fun!
