St Louis Attractions – Over 100!

This is the city where you can feel the impact of various ethnic groups in form of the mansions ranging from German to Italian. Recognized as the modern, industrial, and cultural destination, St Louis is the largest city in Missouri whose natural charm is its Mississippi River, the banks of which are filled melodious ambience via ragtime and Dixieland jazz. The St Louis attractions are really over 100 that need enough time and patience to explore all. Nevertheless, all is worth an effort and that its promises to fulfill your vacation with joy and thrill! This article says about my trip to explore the St Louis attractions.

Among all the St Louis attractions, the most exciting one is the 630 feet Gateway Arch on the riverfront. It is the tallest memorial in the nation and admires St Louis to be the first spot for colonizers who wanted to reach the western frontier. Completed in 1965, the arch holds two displays, one making the visitors explore the history of the arch in the north leg and the museum in the south leg to glance the looks of 1800′s. However, the major attraction here is the trip via tram to reach up the arch to be in the observation area.

Just five minutes from the Arch is the Bissell Mansion Restaurant and Dinner Theatre in the oldest mansion of the city. With reservations, the theatre reveals the murder thriller is accompanied by a four track dinner (choice of reception), wine, and beverage. Evening private dinner shows are also organized for groups here. My next target on the list was the City garden, a new striking site accessible from the Arch via walking. It is full of vivid and lush plantings, famous sculpture, and joy of water, stone, and architecture. Just stroll in amid its fresh breeze with no fence or gate hindering you. There is the Tree View restaurant for lunch and dinner, but is closed on Sundays.

The Eads Bridge of 1874 across the Mississippi River is for a memorable walk or cycling to have some spectacular views of the skyline for no charge. Then, the EarthWays Center is the mansion dedicated to demonstrations of energy systems, recycled products, and green homebuilding standards. This is one more worth visiting site.

Next, I visited the Lewis and Clark Boat House and Nature Center situated in the outskirts of St. Louis. It is actually in the town of St. Charles, which offers Lewis and Clark artifacts and memorabilia. The highlight here is the complete copies of the boats of Lewis and Clark expedition team. Do not miss to explore the Walk of Discovery on the grounds, which is a woodland walk for discovering the plants and wildlife of Missouri.

The St Louis Zoo welcomes you to tour for its more than 5,000 animals. Believe me, it is not worth missing! The timings of the zoo daily are 9 am to 5 pm. However, in summers, the working hours are 8 am to 7 pm. I am telling you this because the first hour of the timings allows a free admission to the children’s zoo, conservation, carousel, or the dinosaur areas. Now, it was the time to explore the Magic House that is educational as well as entertaining in a Victorian house. There is a special zone for babies, while the other zones are dedicated to permanent displays including the Electrostatic Generator and temporary displays.

The next visit was to the most exhilarating site of Six Flags St Louis at 30 miles south of St. Louis. With a wide choice of rides from children’s favorites to wild roller coasters, the park is worth your visit. There are family friendly shows organized quite often here along with the concerts of modern artists. For both the Magical house and Six Flags, do visit the web site for latest information and ticket prices.

I then explored the Christ Church Cathedral, the most ancient Episcopal worship site located towards the west of the Mississippi River. The interior of the church is really worth exploring with good architectural work.

Lastly, I visited the Forest Park, one of the largest city parks in the continent even from the Central Park of the New York. After a great renovation, today, you can explore the Art Museum, Science Center, Zoo, Jewel Box Greenhouse, History Museum, The Muny Theatre, 7.5-mile Biking, Jogging, Skating Path, Skating Rink, and lakes – all for no cost!
