Four unique places to vacation in the Caribbean
When planning a Caribbean vacation, it’s important to choose an island that will fulfill your expectations. For many people, the ideal Caribbean experience is one of palm fringed beaches of powdery white sand, and turquoise waters. While there are many islands like this, some fit the bill more than others.
The Grenadines
Some of the most picturesque Caribbean beaches can be found in the nation of St. Vincent and the Grenadines, most notably the Tobago Cays. This is one of the spots where celebrities come to play, some celebrities even have their own private island. The Grenadines is very popular as a major yachting destination.
The San Blas Archipelago
The San Blas Archipelago is located off the Caribbean coast of Panama. The archipelago consists of almost 400 islands, the vast majority of which are uninhabited tropical paradises, the kind you always dreamed of. The custodians of these islands are the Kuna, an indigenous people who rule with little interference from the Panamanian government.
Camping is possible on some of the uninhabited islands, allowing you to experience paradise in total privacy. If you aren’t going to the Caribbean for the beaches, but for the party, you should consider the following destinations. Both places are far more exciting than the typical Caribbean island, and offer you a greater opportunity to interact with locals.
Colombia
Colombia has changed a lot from the days of Pablo Escobar, and is now a relatively safe destination. The two major cities on the Caribbean coast of Colombia are Cartagena and Barranquilla. Easily reached by plane from the United States, and significantly cheaper than most of the islands, these two cities are increasingly becoming popular with tourists. Both Cartagena and Barranquilla have lively, affordable nightlife, and foreigner friendly locals.
Cuba
Cuba is an excellent country for all tourists including Americans who don’t mind circumventing the law.
The nightlife in Havana is one of the best in the region, as is the music. As a capital of Salsa, music is everywhere, and music is life. In fact it’s so good, you could come here for the music alone. If you go to Cuba looking to party, you will not be disappointed. I have tried to provide you with ideas which you may not have thought of initially. At its best, travel is an adventure of your own creation. I hope this article has helped you with your vacation planning. Thank you for your time.
