Overlooked Areas to Find Hanoi House Rental – What to Know Upfront?

Are you looking for a place to rent in Hanoi? Are you interested in moving? Whether you have found the love of your life, you want to retire, or you work for an international company, finding a Hanoi house to rent can be a bit tricky if you have no idea where to go.

If you look up online, most people will recommend places like Ba Dinh or Tay Ho in Hanoi – right places for ex-pats, but also foreigners. However, there are more areas to explore in the Vietnamese capital, and each of them has its particularities. Now, what are the most overlooked places to check?

Most overlooked places for a house rental in Hanoi

Ciputra

Ciputra is located on the northern side of Hanoi, but quite close and easy to reach – primarily if you work or conduct business in the city center. It is also close to the airport, so it is suitable for those who travel a lot. The population is mostly based on foreigners and wealthy Vietnamese. There is also an international school in the area – great for parents or families.

Ciputra is more like a community – there are lots of amenities on-site, including spas, bakeries, bars, restaurants, tennis courts, and swimming pools. Accommodation is just as diversified. You can find Hanoi house rental or perhaps a beautiful flat with a great view. The surroundings are safe and rich in even more amenities.

Dong Da

Dong Da is another area that you will not find too many recommendations about – sometimes, for a good reason. It is somewhere between Ba Dinh, Hoan Kiem, Hai Ba Trung, Thanh Xuan, and Cau Giay. While some of the surrounding places are incredibly nice and affordable, there is something about Dong Da that does not attract tourists.

The population is mostly local, so you will stand out in the crowd – great if you want to integrate into the local community. You have lots of restaurants and bars too. But if you are the type who enjoys walks with the family, Dong Da may not be the best choice for you. Given its questionable reputation, prices are quite low when compared to other popular areas.

Hai Ba Trung

Located in the southern part of Hanoi, Hai Ba Trung will provide access to flats, large apartments, condos, and houses. Just like in Dong Da, the population is mostly based on local Vietnamese citizens. However, do not be surprised to see foreigners too – in fact, many would instead choose this place, especially if they want to be in Hanoi for a long time.

Hai Ba Trung might be local, but it has plenty of action that can make any foreigner happy – a rich nightlife, urban spaces, bars, and restaurants everywhere. Finding flats is a bit harder than finding houses. As for houses, they might feel a bit overcrowded.
